Most bloggers don’t want to believe that there is a thing such as a “blogger look” but I truly think that it actually exists! Don’t get me wrong the blogger look idea that we tend to have is not a bad thing at all, but let’s face it, who has really seen someone wearing some statement ruffle blouses or bralettes in the streets? Talking about ruffles, like I said before, I’ve never been really a big fan of this trend as it usually adds volume where it’s unecessary.

I usually try to stay away from the blogging trends as much as possible, as they usually don’t suit my own personal tastes but ruffles paired with gingham tend to play on my hearstrings. I’ll have to admit, the ruffle-gingham combo just gives me strong 60s Brigitte Bardot vibesΒ that I’ve always loved. And as I grew up in the south east of France, we are pretty used to see these kind ofΒ pieces inΒ the streets over there.

It’s not a big surprise I would get a gingham ruffle skirt, not only it’s incredibly versatile but it’s also a bargain! And to style this little babe, I wanted a very casual look, spring or even summer appropriate. That’s why, I went for a lightweight and flowing H&M blouse to go with the skirt. To keep the black and white I picked a pair of sling back shoes from Marks & Spencer. To finish the look, I thought that some earthy tones would go really well with B&W, that’s why I picked of my new favourite tan bag from Status Anxiety. Ps: The panty lines are completely optional.

Blouse: H&M/ Skirt: Mango/ Sling back shoes: Marks & Spencer/ Bag: Status Anxiety/ Earrings: Mango

And it looks really good on you as well! And I agree that it sometimes almost can be a little bit boring if every fashion blogger are posting the same trend at the same time

Yeah the conformity is a bit unfortunate… Thank you for your comment!

I have been loving my gingham ruffle skirt too, so it is certainly a blogger thing, though, I also don’t love being super up with trends either. I think the print is classic and great for the warmer weather.

I can see what you’re saying about the “blogger look”: the tendency towards impractical, crazy flounces, cuts, and patterns. This skirt toes the line so beautifully, and you’ve styled it so well. I think it’s much nicer like this in a sort of coy way, where the skirt isn’t screaming out for attention, but draws me in nevertheless.

Right? Most bloggers’ picks are usually only good for a nice photoshoot! Thank you for your comment! πŸ™‚

This gingham skirt is a great piece . The ruffle is not so
frilly because of the weight of the fabric. Just to play
Devils advocate what we get if we went all D&G on this
look. Styling it with red wedge shoes, yellow off the
    Shoulder blouse…..just a thought , Thanks

I’m not big on trendy “blogger look” items either but every once in a while, a trend will tug at my heartstrings so I know all too well why that skirt was calling your name. It’s gorgeous and a very trendy take on a classic print and silhouette! Love the look!

This is such a lovely outfit! It looks ideal for spring and summer! I totally agree with you on this post, it’s funny when I’ve first started blogging I tried so hard not looking like a “blogger” and at first I sort of looked like a typical blogger but now I totally embrace my true style. But let’s be real, there is a blogger look, we should just embrace it rather than get defensive and deny it! Great post dear <3

and ah! I have to strongly agree with you. Never saw anybody in the streets actually wearing all the proposed ruffles. Would you agree that some trends are only around the blog/instagram-sphere? Because seriously out there I just see normal people wearing the simplest stuff aside from accessories.

    • Aria Di Bari
      14 April 2017 / 11:22

I think there are trends for bloggers only! It’s not a bad thing and it’s mostly for a “wow” outfit to post, but it lacks a bit of authenticity imo…

    • 21 April 2017 / 16:32

I agree! I see ruffles all over the internet (on blogs) but I don’t think I’d ever pull it off on a normal day!
