It’s true that bustiers are not the most comfortable clothes to wear on a daily basis but unfortunately they are extremely cute. Even more when they come with a blue gingham print. I have to admit, I’ve always had a soft spot for bustiers. First of all, I love the pattern making part of it, especially when they are tailor-made. But also, and quite ironically, they are just really versatile when it comes to styling!
The one I’m wearing on the photos above, isn’t really a bustier, it’s more of a strapless top but there is a strong inspiration. When it comes to styling such a top, I love playing with shapes. For example, a retro pleated skirt will be perfect with a strapless top. The key with styling such a piece is to have fun. You can even try some layering, like wearing an open shirt on top of your bustier!
However for today’s outfit, I picked a pair of oversized high waisted pants instead. I feel that the outfit is more modern but still with a vintage touch (That’s the magic of gingham). I’m not sure my choice of shoes is the right one, they stand out a little but oddly enough, I like the combination. To finish the look, I decided to pick my well used straw bag from Stella Forest. This choice of bag just add a little summer touch as intended.
